Mr Andrew Miller is a very well respected and sought after Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon working in South Wales with a special interest in hip and knee problems such as trauma and arthritis. At Pro Sports Medicine he is part of the senior clinical team and brings a wealth of experience overseeing quality control in his specialty interest of hip and knee conditions.

Andrew is a keen sportsman who played rugby for Worcester RFC and represented England at junior levels. His boat crew won the Nottingham national rowing championships and more recently was selected to represent Great Britain in the 2016 European Powerlifting Championships.
Mr Andrew Miller studied Medicine at Cardiff University obtaining his Medical degree in 2008 and returned to complete his Doctorate in Cartilage Tissue Engineering in 2019. He completed his orthopaedic training in the UK and Australia before going on to specialise in Hip and Knee surgery.
Mr Andrew Miller has undertaken the prestigious Bristol Advanced Hip fellowship as well as being nationally selected as the TIG Major Trauma fellow to work alongside the military at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. He also received a fellowship from the OTA to work overseas in Tampa, USA. There he worked alongside top USA trauma surgeons and honed his surgical skills in the use of the latest robotic joint replacement surgery techniques. In fact Mr Miller recently completed the first robotic knee replacement on a client from Pro Sports Medicine.

Sophie Jones
Counsellor & Psychotherapist
Sophie Jones is a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist having studied at the University of South Wales in Newport. Sophie also has over 20 years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in the NHS. She has spent most of her career working on Critical Care and is a Bereavement Support Volunteer for Cruse in her spare time.
Sophie’s approach to Counselling is Integrative which means she can bring different elements of specific therapeutic approaches together to suit your individual needs and circumstances. For example, you may wish to seek help with anxiety, or maybe you are experiencing a major life transition such as divorce or bereavement. Together, we can explore your concerns and areas of difficulty within a time frame that works for you.
She is a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adheres to their ethical guidelines. She undertakes regular clinical professional development and participate in clinical supervision.
Dr Dale Thomas
Clinical & Sports Psychologist
Dr Thomas holds a doctorate in clinical psychology (DClinPsy) and a masters in applied Sport and Exercise Psychology. He specialises in performance psychology for elite populations and high pressured environments.
His experience includes working with elite athletes and he is currently working full time with the Welsh National Rugby team focussing mainly on performance psychology. His role also includes providing clinical psychological support for the four professional rugby regions across Wales.
Dr Thomas also has experience of working with professionals that operate in high pressured environments such as neurosurgery and corporate businesses. Key skills such as formulation, psycho-education and specialist psychological therapy are key to his practice. Positive psychology and Acceptance and commitment therapy are central in his ethos.
Dr Geoff Davies

Dr Geoff Davies is a full time Consultant Sports Physician dividing his time between professional rugby, the NHS and the Ministry of Defence. Dr Davies is the Welsh Rugby Union national team doctor and is the only Cardiff based consultant Sports Physician, one of only 2 such specialists in Wales.

Mr Chris Wilson

Mr Chris Wilson is a Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon. Mr Wilson is innovative and is experienced in the newer techniques of stem cell grafting for articular cartilage defects, meniscal repair and transplantation, arthroscopic ligament reconstruction, computer-guided knee replacement, partial knee replacement and re-alignment osteotomy.
He has developed several novel techniques and has published these in specialist medical journals, along with other related research. He is active in teaching , training and assessing junior doctors and trainee surgeons and teaches on courses locally, and at the Royal College of Surgeons. Mr Rhys Thomas
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Mr Rhys Thomas is a specialist in adult foot and ankle surgery. He has extensive experience in this field, having been a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon for over 12 years.
Mr Thomas regularly treats sporting injuries and this is recognised by being a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine. He is Honorary Surgeon to the Welsh Rugby Union, Cardiff Blues Rugby and Cardiff City Football Club. He also treats players from across the Welsh rugby regions and other sporting disciplines.
Mr Thomas has a keen interest in research and teaching. He is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Cardiff University and has published in several peer-reviewed journals. He teaches and lectures on the MSc in Sports Medicine at Cardiff Met and the MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering at Cardiff University. He also teaches on the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society clinical course and is co-organiser of the Royal College of Surgery Core Skills in Orthopaedics course.
Mr Phil Thomas
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Mr Phil Thomas, a recognised hip specialist, is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon and Honorary University Lecturer at the University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff. Alongside his private orthopaedic practice at Vale Healthcare, Mr Thomas specialises in paediatric and adult hip disorders. This ranges from babies born with hip problems through to the elderly with hip arthritis.
As a result of his paediatric hip interest, he specialises in young adult hip disorders, many of which are a consequence of childhood hip problems. Mr Thomas is trained to offer the vast majority of hip surgery procedures including hip arthroscopy, hip osteotomy, minimally invasive hip replacements and traditional hip replacements.
Mr Thomas also has expertise in treating elite and professionals athletes with hip problems and is the orthopaedic surgeon for the Llanelli Scarlets rugby team. He is also orthopaedic surgeon to the senior Wales national rugby team.
Mr David Pemberton
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Mr David Pemberton is a private Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital and Vale Healthcare, Royal Glamorgan Hospital, South Wales. Mr Pemberton practices from both the Vale Hospital and Cardiff Bay Clinic, and has a special interest in lower limb surgery particularly knee surgery. He is Honorary Orthopaedic Surgeon to the Welsh Rugby Union, and Pontypridd RFC. Mr Pemberton is also honorary surgeon to professional welsh ice hockey side the Cardiff Devils.
Sports injuries however are only a small part of Mr Pemberton’s clinical practice, with the majority of patients requiring intervention for degenerative conditions, in particular knee cartilage tears and arthritis. Despite specialising in knee surgery, Mr Pemberton still performs a lot of hip replacement surgery’s and indeed is one of the pioneers of ceramic bearing hip implants in Wales. He is now pioneering the utilisation of inter-positional implants for early knee arthritis in young, active patients and dual compartment replacements for knee arthritis preserving the patient’s own cruciate ligaments.
Mr Stuart Roy
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Mr Stuart Roy is a consultant in trauma and orthopaedic surgery at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, with a sub-speciality interest in lower limb surgery. He is the lead clinician of the orthopaedic department for the Cwm Taff Trust. In addition to this Mr Roy also holds the role of honorary senior lecturer at the Cardiff University School of Medicine.
Mr Roy has broad experience in most aspects of trauma and has expertise in lower limb surgery including total hip replacement and all aspects of knee surgery, and surgery of the foot and ankle. Mr Roy is very active in rugby and represented Wales from a schoolboy level up to senior international level. He played for Cardiff RFC, Cambridge University and Pontypridd RFC as well as gaining full Wales International honours.

Mr Alwyn Jones BSc, MSc, FRCS, FRSC (Orth)
Consultant Orthopaedic & Spinal Surgeon
Mr Jones is a welsh speaker graduating from Cardiff in 1993. He stayed in Wales to do his basic and orthopaedic training. He spent a year in Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, where he completed a nationally recognised spinal fellowship, treating both adult and paediatric spinal conditions. He has now been a Consultant Spinal Surgeon in Cardiff for a number of years, where he treats all spinal conditions including adult and paediatric deformity (scoliosis), neck and arm pain, back pain and sciatica.
Mr Jones has performed over 300 major cases and between 400-500 injections per year. He also treats spinal fractures with or without spinal cord injury, spinal infections, as well as patients with rheumatoid arthritis. He has an interest in sports medicine and treats local players from Cardiff Rugby, Glamorgan Cricket Club and Cardiff City FC
